Monster Energy Kawasaki Opens EnduroCross Season in the Top 10
Monster Energy Kawasaki Opens EnduroCross Season in the Top 10
Monster Energy Kawasaki opened the 2013 EnduroCross season in the top 10 as Taylor Robert and Justin Soule battled the field at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. As is customary in EnduroCross, both riders battled difficult obstacles and did their best to stay off the ground en-route to a sixth and ninth place finish respectively. Kawasaki riders Destry Abbott and Gary Sutherlin also made the main event finishing 11th and 13th respectively.
Ready to Roll
Robert came into Las Vegas after posting a top-five finish at X Games Brazil and looking to step up on the podium in Las Vegas. Robert had a scary crash early in the night as he went over the bars, but he recovered to finish second in his heat race and advanced to the main event. In the feature race Robert was bottled up with the top 10 riders and slowly worked his way up to sixth for the checkered flag.

“Tonight was tough,” said Robert. “I crashed really hard in practice and bruised my hip pretty bad. It was sore all night, but I was able to push through and made up a few spots in the closing laps. I didn’t ride like myself tonight, so we should see a different rider next round.”
Back on the Bike
Soule returned to the track in Las Vegas after suffering an injury last summer. He didn’t seem to miss a beat as he was able to post a fast time in practice and was running second in his heat race before a crash sent him to the last chance qualifier. In the LCQ, Soule did what he had to do to get to the main event, where he got a slow start off of the gate. Despite the slow start, he had worked his way up to fifth before a rider crashed in front of him, giving no place to go. He recovered to finish ninth.

“I look at tonight as a positive,” said Soulé. “The result doesn’t show it, but I rode well. It’s hard to come from behind because it’s near impossible to not get caught up in some kind of carnage. My speed is good so with more time on the bike we should look good for Sacramento.”
New Year
With the new season came some new changes in the EnduroCross racing format. In the past, heat and LCQ finishing positions decided gate pick for the main event. This season there is a special hot lap, where only one rider is on the course at a time with the single lap time deciding the gate pick.
Golden State
Robert and Soule will now get ready for the next round of EnduroCross at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif. on June 8.
