As the rain continued to fall and racing delayed, the pits were a buzz of stories from yesteryears. Former Loretta Lynn’s champions and Team Green riders Ryan Villopoto and Blake Baggett were on hand to tell of the mud races they endured. Villopoto and Baggett spent the day signing autographs for the many riders and fans and once racing resumed, Villopoto jumped up in the announcer’s tower to help call the 250 A moto which was broadcasted live online.
“I don’t ever remember it raining quite this much,” said Baggett. “I had some of my best races in the mud here at Loretta’s. It’s actually easier to ride when its super soupy and wet because with the dirt here, once it starts to dry it gets so thick and heavy. The track workers did a great job of salvaging the track considering how swamped it was.”
