MONSTER ENERGY® PRO CIRCUIT KAWASAKI RIDERS BRAVE SOUTHWICK WITH TOP 10 FINISHES

Foothill Ranch, Calif. (June 30, 2024) - Monster Energy® Pro Circuit Kawasaki riders Levi Kitchen and Ty Masterpool battled through the demanding, sandy course to secure seventh overall (4-7) and eighth overall (6-8), respectively. Monster Energy® Kawasaki rider Jason Anderson finished just off the podium in Moto 1, but faced difficulties in the second moto  finishing 12th overall (4-31).

The Wick 338 in Southwick, Massachusetts, is renowned for its deep, sandy track conditions that create a unique and challenging terrain for riders. As one of the oldest and most iconic tracks on the Pro Motocross Championship circuit, it has hosted national events since the 1970s. The sandy soil demands exceptional skill and endurance, making it a standout event in the championship. Beloved by fans and riders alike, The Wick 338's technical challenge and storied history contribute to its significance, with performances here often having a major impact on the overall championship standings.

During the morning qualifying sessions, Kitchen and Masterpool navigated the sand to secure fourth and fifth positions. In Moto 1 of the 250MX Class, Kitchen started in second and Masterpool in 10th. After the first lap, Kitchen was in contention for a podium position but eventually settled into fourth. Masterpool made quick passes through the field, ultimately finishing sixth. Kitchen maintained consistency finding his flow late in the moto and closed in on the podium positions finishing fourth. To start Moto 2, the No. 47 KX250 surged off the gate with precision, grabbing the holeshot and began immediately putting seconds on the field before a red flag sent the field back to the starting gate after one lap. On the restart, Kitchen again demonstrated the power of his KX250 by securing another holeshot, however this time the championship contenders were right alongside him as he again settled into a battle for the podium. Masterpool restarted in seventh and rode strong to finish eighth in both the moto and overall. Kitchen raced with the lead pack until a collision with a lapped rider caused him to crash, leading to a seventh-place finish in the moto and seventh overall.

In the 450MX Class, Anderson began his weekend by securing ninth place in qualifying. In Moto 1, Anderson had a strong start, quickly moving up to sixth and then passing two riders ahead of him.  The No. 21 maintained a steady performance, hitting his marks consistently to finish in fourth place. In Moto 2 of the 450MX Class, Anderson got a good jump off the gate but was bumped by another rider during the first turn, causing him to tip over along with many others. He remounted and skillfully navigated the technical track, climbing up to 11th place by the half-way mark. Unfortunately, another mistake led to a second crash. With just two laps remaining, discomfort from both crashes forced Anderson to retire from the race, finishing 31st in the moto and 12th overall.
