Mathis Valin Powers Through Illness to Clinch EMX250 Championship and Secure Kawasaki’s Manufacturers' Title in Spain
Bud Racing Kawasaki's Mathis Valin powered through illness to secure his FIM European EMX250 Championship with his third two-moto win of the season in Cozar, Spain. His victory also locked in the Manufacturers' title for Kawasaki.
The French teenager had already clinched the championship on Saturday, but the determined 18-year-old wasn’t about to let up. He was set on finishing the season strong with his fourth overall win. Valin shot out to the front from the middle of the gate in race one, but drifted slightly wide in the first turn, dropping to second. That was enough to secure the overall win, but Valin wasn’t satisfied. He took back the lead at the start of lap five, and despite battling illness, held off his main rival to claim his tenth moto win and fourth overall victory (three of them perfect scores) of the season. He also landed his ninth podium in the eleven-round series, finishing with a decisive 34-point lead in the championship.
Valin’s strong performance was critical for Kawasaki as well. Starting the day with an eight-point lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, Valin's win extended that to 11 points, sealing the title for Kawasaki. The top two riders finished a full 43 seconds ahead of third place, showcasing Valin's dominance.
