Brad Lackey answers some questions about Uni-Trak
Question 1: What makes the Uni-Trak a better suspension?
Lackey Answer 1: Quite simply, it gets more power to the ground. You see, in the last fifty years, if you were a dirt rider, you had a choice of two rear suspensions. Either a single-shock or a double-shock. In truth, once you were out in the dirt, there was not too much difference in their performance. Uni-Trak has changed that.
Question 2: How does the Uni-Trak work?
Lackey Answer 2: There’s on very strong placed underneath the rider. It’s connected to the swingarm through a rockerarm. This gives you a vertical load. In other words, the rear wheel movement is parallel to the shock .This effects a smooth shock operation. Now since the rear wheel is forced vertically down to the ground, this vertical force field keeps the center of gravity very low. This means that the rear wheel spends more time in the dirt than in mid-air.
Question 3: Is the Uni-Trak adjustable?
Lackey Answer 3: There’s adjustable spring preload on every model and three-way adjustable dampening on the three motocross models. Since there’s only one shock, you never have to worry about uneven dampening. You can compensate for the weight of the rider and for different riding surfaces. It's a quick process, too. You can do it in minutes, because unlike the other single shock system, you don’t have to take off the gas tank to get to the shock.
The diagram includes the following parts:
Rugged heim-type ballpoints minimize suspension slack, Forged steel suspension arm, Double chrome-moly steel rods connect swingarm to pivoting suspension arm. Pressurized Nitrogen and oil separated by internal piston, Remote canister contains damping oil reservoir, Reinforced box-section swingarm provides maximum rigidity, Spring preload adjuster, Swingarm rides on special phenolic bushings that require no lubrication, Chrome-plated shock shaft, Rubber bottoming damper, Damping adjuster permits wide range of settings.
