MONSTER ENERGY® KAWASAKI RIDERS COMPLETE THE 2024 SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™ SEASON IN SIN CITY
Foothill Ranch, Calif. (September 22, 2024) - Monster Energy® Kawasaki riders secured multiple Top 10 finishes at the SuperMotocross World Championship™ finale in Las Vegas. Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Ty Masterpool finished seventh (9-6) and ninth in the overall standings after leading laps on The Strip. Teammates Levi Kitchen and Garrett Marchbanks would finish eighth (6-10) and 10th (8-12) for the night, and sixth and 12th in the overall SMX standings, respectively. Cameron McAdoo would successfully qualify each round from the Last Chance Qualifier, finishing 12th (13-11) and 10th overall in the standings. Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Jason Anderson would finish 14th (7-21) overall at Playoff #3 and 10th in the SMX standings after a mid-race incident forced him to retire from Moto 2. Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green riders Enzo Temmerman and Drew Adams claimed Top 10 finishes at the 250SMX World All-Stars championship finishing fifth and sixth overall, respectively. Team Green brothers Reven and Landen Gordon finished eighth and 13th, while Caden Dudney and Krystian Janik would battle adversity to finish 14th and 16th.
This weekend, the SuperMotocross World Championship made its debut at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the exciting season finale. This event holds major significance in the series, drawing the top riders back to the renowned city of Las Vegas that has a long history of hosting the Monster Energy Supercross finale and the Monster Energy Cup. With triple points on the line, the race was pivotal in determining the championship standings, creating a "winner takes all" scenario.
In the 250SMX class, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki riders showed speed on the slick course, Kitchen qualifying fourth, Masterpool sixth, Marchbanks 10th and McAdoo 15th. After successfully winning the Last Chance Qualifier, McAdoo claimed the 14th gate pick for Moto 1. In Moto 1, Masterpool shot out of the gate in third and Kitchen in fifth. Teammates McAdoo and Marchbanks were shuffled back in 10th and 15th. McAdoo and Marchbanks immediately put on a charge, quickly placing themselves into the Top 10. Kitchen remained consistent in the sixth spot, while Masterpool made contact with another rider, forcing him back to ninth. McAdoo continued to move up in position until he tipped over, falling back to the 13th position where he would finish. Marchbanks capitalized on the errors in front of him, maintaining consistency to finish eighth in the moto. In Moto 2, Masterpool shot out of the gate securing the holeshot on his KX™250 and quickly establishing a lead. Teammates Kitchen, McAdoo, and Marchbanks settled into 13th, 15th, and 16th positions by the end of Lap 1. Despite the start, Kitchen put his head down and began charging to the front, eventually breaking into the Top 10 with Marchbanks and McAdoo trailing closely behind. Masterpool ran the pace of the leaders early on, but minor errors in the remainder of the moto dropped him to finish sixth. Kitchen, Marchbanks, and McAdoo steadily gained positions, ultimately finishing 10th, 11th, and 12th, respectively.
In the 450SMX class, Anderson kicked off the weekend qualifying fifth and feeling more like himself following his crash in Charlotte. In Moto 1, Anderson secured the fourth place position that he steadily maintained, stalking the leaders through a majority of the moto. With a few laps remaining, Anderson made an error in a rhythm section forcing him off-track. Anderson remounted his KX™450, and finished the moto in seventh place. In Moto 2, Anderson performed another solid start, crossing the line on Lap 1 in sixth place. The No. 21 maintained that position until the deteriorating track conditions once again took their toll forcing Anderson to crash. Anderson remounted, but retired from the moto after aggravating his back.
In the 250SMX All-Stars class, Adams and Gordon secured second and third in overall qualifying. Teammates Dudney, Temmerman and Janik claimed seventh, 10th and 13th overall, respectively. In the 250SMX All-Stars Main Event, Landen Gordon shot out of the gate on his KX250, securing the holeshot. Temmerman, Adams, Janik and Dudney were shuffled towards the back, forcing an early charge to break into the Top 15. Temmerman and Adams quickly began to maneuver through their competition, breaking into the Top 10. Both riders stayed on each other’s tails eventually claiming the fifth and sixth positions where they would finish. Landen Gordon maintained a podium position until multiple errors cost him positions, eventually falling to 13th while his brother Reven stayed consistent outside the Top 5 to finish in eighth. Dudney and Janik would experience misfortune throughout the moto, finishing 14th and 17th, respectively.
